A preservation breeder is a dog breeder who works to preserve the original type of a breed, its working ability, and its bloodlines. Preservation breeders are dedicated to ensuring that the breed will continue into the future in the function it was bred to preform.

To us that means learning as much as we can about why the standard is written the way it was. Especially by the country of origin. In the case of the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno that means Portugal.
