One Breed – Two Coats

Both need regular weekly grooming with a brush and the occasional bath to keep them clean and looking their best. Grooming can be a wonderful bonding experience for you and your pet. Their strong fast-growing nails should be trimmed regularly with a nail clipper or grinder to avoid overgrowth, splitting and cracking. Their ears should be checked regularly to avoid a buildup of wax and debris which can result in an infection. Teeth should be brushed regularly.

The quote above is from the American Kennel Club page on Portuguese Podengo Pequeno grooming. I think most breeders would disagree with some of this statement. I rarely give my podengos a bath. I think it should read “and the very occasional bath” Especially, the wire coats. You can clean their ears and paws without baths. I use a grooming stone on both coats when I groom.
