Dogs Days of Summer – Connecticut edition

Let me start off by apologizing for using my kennel website rather than a traditional blog. I am a long time fan of Design mom, I shut down my personal blog a few years ago ( I still instagram) but happen to LOVE where I live (in the summer and without getting into politics). We recently moved from one town to the next. We are now located in Windsor, Connecticut right on the Farmington River. Our views are amazing and everyday when I step outside I pinch myself. We live close to the airport (5 minutes), close to the train station (10 minutes), close to NYC (2.5 hours) and Boston but live in a quiet corner.

I own a kennel and having a place for my dogs to enjoy the great outdoors safely is key to me. We wanted a place where they could be dogs (run, bark and play) without disturbing the neighbors. We wanted a place where the kids could swim, hike and earn money mowing lots of grass. We found it ! Most days I spend my afternoons with the dogs enjoying our piece of the Farmington River. Sometimes we go on adventures. Last week, the Podengos and I went to visit friends in Old Saybrook, Connecticut.

I had forgotten how nice Old Saybrook is. We enjoyed watching the boats and seagulls on the boat launch. We shopped at a great gourmet to go place and of course had a nice visit with our friends (human and canine). The next day my daughter and I visited Mystic, Connecticut. We ate and shopped all day! I’m not kidding. We started by having a great Portuguese breakfast over looking the water, then had lunch at Mystic Pizza (remember the movie ?? It really is a slice of heaven) and had an ice cream at the drawbridge ice cream shop. We filled the time in between with fabulous shopping at unique stores.
